This month, most of
the emails I've recieved have been asking about the Synergy and what are my thoughts
compared to other helicopters I've flown. Finally I got around to writing
the comparison article I'd been promising. I'll be interested to see what
the reaction is to this article, if any. Based upon some of the comments I've
read on the internet, you could be forgiven for thinking the N9 was the second coming
of whatever particular God you might worship.
It's not. But neither is any helicopter. Every machine has it's flaws
and I can tell you that the Synergy sure has a couple. But to their credit,
Synergy R/C have identified a couple of issues and are actively doing something
about it. There's still a few more things that really need to be tidied up
on it, but for a first run at designing a machine, it's pretty good. But remember,
it won't make you fly any better just because you bought it!
Read the article and come to your own conclusions. One thing is for sure,
the 90 size market has never been as good as it is now, with the Vibe, Stratus,
Synergy, Raptor and the imminent arrival of the CarbonXtreme Aurora, it's going
to be on for young and old!
In other news, I've been flying my T-Rex a lot lately down at the park now that
summer is just about here. Nothing sharpens up the reflexes like dealing with
the randomness of a T-Rex! I've started documenting some of the changes and
experiences I've had with the T-Rex to try and help out other T-Rex users.
Christmas is coming up in a couple of months and I'll be heading back to New Zealand
to see my family and also participate in the National F3C Championships where I'm
looking forward to catching up with some of my old flying mates back home.
Then it'll be straight back to Australia for the Australian Nationals in the first
week of January.
SITE UPGRADE
After
the last newsletter I set to work upgrading the whole website. I didn't realise
just how many pages are in this site until I had to go through each one individually!
While it looks pretty much
the same as it always has, the way in which it works behind the scenes has drastically
changed. I've pretty much rebuilt the whole thing from scratch using current
technologies which is similar to taking an old car, removing the engine and chassis,
and installing a current generation one. This will allow me to incorporate
more features in the future.
2007 F3C WORLD CHAMPS
Finally, the official website for the 2007 World Champs in Poland has been announced.

NEW JR RADIO?
There's
been talk around the campfire lately of JR's long awaited competitor to the 14MZ.
It sounds like there could be more fact that rumour in those talks now after a recent
Hobby Fair in Japan. I have no other information on what features it has at
this stage. Hopefully assignable switches and multi-type models (planks and
helis) can be run on the transmitter :).
