The front section, look close- you may see the filler added to the mold seam- very nice.

Finally got to the first couple steps with the Twinstar this weekend. A friend from my flying club, the Wellington Model Aerpolane Club, offered to get me going with the project. He's a great builder and flyer, so I leapt at
the chance. After spending a few hours with Bob, he made up the a plywood plate, to re-inforce the bottom of the fuze. It is 2 part epoxied in place, with a templet drawn before this one was installed. You never know when you
may want to do this again!

Then it was time for a good lesson on the surface prep- which has been written about by many people, better than me. I'm following Bob's advise for this, and it should turn out OK. Bob uses common products, nothing real
flash, so we'll see what the outcome is. It'll probably be fine for me!

But in a nut shell, the entire surface get a good whack with a 280 wet/dry paper dry. Bob feels that wet is a bit messy, so for my purpose sounds good to me. Once that is done, then a very light coat of primer spray paint
from a can- hardware store type. When this is dry- knock this back again with 280. This will revel all the pinholes, that will need to be filled.

The Twinstar fuze, after the entire surface has been sanded by hand with 280 wet/dry paper

The pix here are after a few hours sanding by hand, while hanging out at our local flying field. Not too shabby, I'd say. I'm not certain if it comes through ok, but the area where Bob demonstrated what needs to be done, was
on top of the front section. The center mold line, and pinholes in this area have been filled, and seem to be very nice. When you hold the mold up to the light, you can see all the places that have been filled.

I'm out of the country for a few weeks, so there won't be much progress while I'm away. Then there wiill be a big push to have this machine ready for a large Funfly and Scale Meet up in Rotorua in mid-October. It may be tight, but I'll give it a shot!

The plywood plate added to re-inforce the bottom. The square opening was already in the mold for bottom start machines, and air cooling.
